Get Out and About This Fall

Fall leaves at MiramesaAmerican novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne said, “I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house” — which is why we’re here to help you get out the door and into that beautiful autumnal sunshine!

With the holidays coming up, there’s nothing more fun than fall and winter seasonal farmer’s markets. Find unique one-of-a-kind gifts or local fruit, berries, and herbs for both holiday recipes and décor. There’s a farmer’s market in nearby Tomball and another in nearby Katy. Both set up weekly every Saturday of the month and go on rain or shine.

Weather permitting, it’s also a perfect time to get out and take those last few hikes before it gets too cold. There’s plenty of great family- and pet-friendly nature trails in and around the greater Houston area — including the Little Cypress Creek Preserve right here in Cypress. One really neat thing about this park is it includes a 1-mile interactive trail with informational signage that utilizes your mobile phone’s QR reader. Another Houston favorite is the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. The Houston Arboretum is home to five miles of walking trails and tons of interactive programs and events (like the upcoming Trees and Stars Winter Celebration).

Speaking of pet-friendly, Miramesa residents have the luxury of a peaceful stroll from home to the in-community dog park. The Miramesa Recreation Complex is perfect for fall evenings with your pup or fun family outings like basketball or tennis. All we ask is that you take advantage of this beautiful fall weather before it’s too late!
