When Miramesa families attend a Cypress Springs High School football game or Rennell Elementary students participate in the district-wide spelling bee, they do so at a world-class facility — the Richard E. Berry Educational Support Center.
Situated on 65 acres at Barker-Cypress Road and West Road, the jaw-dropping Berry Center is actually five facilities in one boasting an 11,000-seat stadium, a 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena, a 456-seat theater, a conference center and a satellite food production center.
That Cy-Fair ISD created the Berry Center is a testament to the district’s commitment to all of its students, providing each school with access to the best athletic and performing arts facilities available.
Cy-Fair FCU Stadium is shared by all 11 Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District high school football teams. The impressive stadium was named “one of the top 10 high school stadiums to see before you die” in 2014 by MaxPreps.com, a comprehensive source for high school sports information.
The Berry Center Arena is one of the largest on-site indoor spaces in the area and can easily convert from a sports venue to a concert hall. On Jan. 21, the space played host to the scintillating Cy-Springs Panteras and other high school dance teams at the CFISD Dance Showoffs. It will next transform into the site for the Cy-Fair Home and Garden Show, Feb. 18-19.
In addition, the complex hosts graduation ceremonies, extra- and co-curricular activities, awards banquets, district-wide staff development days and UIL competitions, such as the UIL State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 24-25.
Students are not the only beneficiaries of the state-of-the-art complex. The Berry Center hosts a number of non-district related events, including local theatrical and dance company performances, community health clinics and festivals.
Miramesa students attend Rennell Elementary, Anthony Middle School and Cypress Springs High School, providing them with access to Cy-Fair ISD’s strong curriculum, highly trained teachers and innovative programs.
