Holiday Fun Is Just Around the Corner

Those lucky enough to call Lago Mar home are in a wonderful spot this holiday season. With Lago Mar’s prime location along Interstate 45, exciting holiday adventures are right outside your door.

Starting close to home, the charming town of Texas City will light up with holiday cheer for the annual Christmas Parade Thursday, Dec. 6th, starting at 5:30 p.m. The route will begin at City Hall and travel east toward 6thStreet. Following the parade, awards will be presented for Most Original, Religious Theme, Individual Entry, Small Business, Mayor’s Trophy, Emergency Response and Best of Theme. Come support your neighbors, local small businesses and community organizations with this fun festive event.

Every year, Moody Gardens turns into a spectacular winter wonderland. Ice Land and the Festival of Lights are two of the most prominent holiday destinations in the Southwest – both hosted at Moody Gardens. Ice Land features 2 million pounds of ice carved into a festive journey from the North to South Pole. The Festival of Lights brightens up the holidays with a mile-long trail highlighting more than 1 million lights and lighted scenes that take you around Moody Gardens with spectacular views of Galveston Bay. Enjoy the area’s only outdoor skating rink, concession areas with hot chocolate and festive food, holiday buffets, live entertainment, and more during Moody Garden’s holiday season.

Visit the Kemah Boardwalk Saturday, Dec. 8th, for the Christmas Boat Parade. Hundreds of boats will be illuminated for the holidays as they cruise along Galveston Bay. Kemah Boardwalk is home to a variety of fabulous waterfront restaurants and retail stores where you can stop in and warm up over a festive holiday dinner.

Downtown Lanterns and Lights runs nightly along the 36-block district of downtown Galveston. This event features a display of lights and other holiday-themed attractions in Saengerfest Park and beyond. Historic Downtown Galveston’s main shopping street, The Strand, draws visitors to its “diverse collection of boutiques, gift shops, restaurants and attractions housed in majestic iron-front buildings that once made up the ‘Wall Street of the South.’” Whether it’s enjoying an evening at The Grand 1894 Opera House watching a live performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ or shopping for holiday gifts, there’s always something to do in Downtown Galveston.
