Land Tejas has acquired more than 1,000 acres in Katy, adding to the more than 17,000 acres the longtime Houston-based firm has developed in the greater Houston area.
The approximate 1,039-acre parcel is along Clay and Pitts roads in Harris and Waller Counties and will be developed into a master-planned community of approximately 3,000 homes.
“Just a few miles north of Interstate 10 and west of the Grand Parkway, this tract offers an excellent location close to major employment centers and it’s also within the Katy Independent School District,” said James Henrie, Chief Operating Officer, for Land Tejas. “We envision this as a premier community mirroring the successful home offerings, amenities and forward-thinking features that are trademarks of a Land Tejas community.”
Land Tejas closed on the property at the end of 2019. Trez Capital provided financing for acquisition and development. CBA Land Capital LP is an equity partner with Land Tejas in the land purchase.
Henrie said the first homesites are expected to be delivered in 2021. A name for the community has not been announced.
Founded in 1997, Land Tejas has 11 current communities, including Balmoral in Humble and Harmony in Spring, both ranked among the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities in recently released reports by Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO) and John Burns Real Estate Consulting.
Other active communities include Bridge Creek, Etteridge, Lago Mar, Miramesa, Sierra Vista, Sterling Lakes, Vanbrooke and Wedgewood Forest.
In 2018, Land Tejas opened the first Crystal Lagoons® amenity in Texas when it opened a 2-acre lagoon in Balmoral. Currently, a 12-acre lagoon is under construction that should open early this year in Lago Mar.
