With temperatures soaring for a while longer in southeast Texas, it’s hard to believe fall is right around the corner. But soon, the familiar flurry of fall activities will be in full swing. From live music to Halloween and harvest festivals, make sure these family-friendly events happening near Lago Mar are on your calendar:
Texas City
While the weather’s still warm, cool off at Lagoonfest Texas, open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through October. Enjoy beach life in your backyard, including water activities, food and drinks, and beach-style amenities. Challenge yourself on an inflatable obstacle course; book a sailboat or ferry cruise; or rent a kayak, paddle board, or aqua cycle to get out on the crystal clear water. Make plans to attend the Texas City Music Festival, presented by The Cultural Arts Foundation, on Sept. 6. This free event features live music, food trucks, vendors, a foam party for kids, and more. Country music artist Kyle Park headlines the event, which also features performances from country music artists Alli Walker and Bri Bagwell.

Help raise awareness for breast cancer by participating in Texas City’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5k Walk/Runon Oct. 4.

Gather for a meal at the inaugural One Table Community Gathering, hosted by the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce, on Oct. 11. Residents, businesses and community leaders are invited to share a meal, connect and celebrate the bond the communities share. Tickets start at $25.

Bring the family to Texas City’s free Touch a Truck outdoor event on Oct. 18 with monster truck rides, pumpkin decorating, moonwalks, face painting, balloon animals, music, food trucks, and arts and crafts vendors. Children will be able to climb on and explore more than 100 different big trucks and vehicles.

Don’t miss out on having some spooky fun at Texas City’s annual Halloween Festival on Oct. 25, featuring outdoor games, moonwalks, costume contests and a trunk-or-treat event for children.

League City
Come enjoy a night of free acoustic music in nearby League City on Sept. 26 at the League City Folk Association Music Gathering. You’re invited to bring your own food, beverage and chair and settle in to meet others over songs and stories.

The League City Lions Club is once again sponsoring League City’s 69th annual Village Fair, a family-friendly feel-good event you don’t want to miss. The two-day event on Oct. 3-4 will include live music, a massive vendor fair, a farmers’ market, the Galveston County Cigar Lions Club Car Show, a competitive scavenger hunt, charity raffles, and more, all raising funds for Lion’s Club efforts, such as scholarships, meals, disaster recovery and vision services. Admission is $10 per person.

Get started on pumpkin carving and holiday shopping over at the League City Harvest Festival happening Oct. 11 with free admission. In addition, the event includes artisan and craft vendors, kid’s crafts, games, hayrides and a costume contest.

Check out this year’s Eco Fest on Nov. 8, featuring classes and exhibits on sustainability and being more eco-friendly at home, vendors, crafts, giveaways, a yard sale, and bingo. There’s no cost to attend this family-friendly event.

Honor veterans and their families at League City’s annual Veterans Day event on Nov. 11. City officials and a keynote speaker will share remarks, and the first 150 attendees will receive a complimentary lunch.

Worth the Trip
Look to the skies this fall and take in the Commemorative Air Force’s annual Wings Over Houston airshow Oct. 18-19. Just a short drive from Lago Mar, Wings Over Houston is one of the top air shows to see in the U.S. and showcases vintage World War II aircraft and modern aviation.
