Seven Ways Miramesa Families Get Fit Together

Resolved to get your family fitter, but not sure how to do it? Here are seven ways Miramesa families have fun and stay healthy together.

Take A Walk

Work up an appetite with a pre-dinner walk along our neighborhood trails. Our families use leisurely strolls before or after dinner to reconnect after work and school while getting some exercise.

Host a Weekly Sports Night

Exercise is more fun when it’s a game, so our families head out to the Miramesa recreation center for sports nights. Play volleyball on the sand volleyball court or serve up some fun at the tennis courts. During the summer, a friendly game of Marco Polo in the pool can burn a few calories.

Get a Dog

Studies show that dog owners are healthier than non-dog owners. Our beautiful dog park is a great place for your furry Fido to run off leash — don’t be surprised if the kids go along for the run.

Join a League

Keeping kids fit is as easy as signing them up for youth sport program. Try the Cy-Fair Sports Association for league play. One Sports Nation organizes youth sports teams with an emphasis on fair play and good sportsmanship

Plan a Family Fun Day

Plan a day for family fun and get some exercise in the process. LazerX—Laser Tag Arena is a fun way to exercise your body and develop those all-important strategy skills. Run, jump and play ninja at Get Air Houston, which also has a program for kids with special needs. Get in some cardio and practice your back flip at Bounce Bounce the Trampoline Park. Children with autism can exercise in an environment built especially for them at We Rock the Spectrum Cypress.

Sign Up for a Fun Run

Get the family moving at a local fun run. Many 5K races for charity also include a short half-mile or mile walk/run for families. Upcoming runs include the March 2 CFISD Superintendent’s Fun Run and Festival and the  Katy Color Run 5k/10k/1k Kid’s Dash on March 23.

Head to the Gym

Miramesa families often head out to the fitness center at our beautiful clubhouse for their daily cardio and weights workout, but there are plenty of gyms also nearby. One is than Lifetime Athletic which — if you’re looking for exercise classes for the kids —offers a Kids Academy as part of its family membership program
